What's in store for 2024!
Here is what you should expect in Sudo Make Me a CTO for the next 12 months!
Happy 2024, everyone!
I hope you all managed to take some quality time off, doing whatever you like to do during the end-of-year holiday period.
I want to kick off the year with a slightly different post compared to what you normally see here.
Today, I want to give you an overview of what to expect in Sudo Make Me a CTO during 2024, followed by a small request.
Let's dive into what's in store for 2024!
🗞️ More frequent free articles
My intention is to keep the newsletter free for the foreseeable future.
In 2023, I took the approach of not committing to a fixed schedule to get started with the newsletter.
In 2024, I want to up the game and commit to publishing new articles weekly, with a few exceptions.
I take very seriously the idea of disconnecting and recharging when we're taking time off from work. During those weeks, you should expect the frequency to slow down. This will typically be during the longer summer and winter breaks when my kids are at home from school.
Going forward, expect a new article to be published every Wednesday morning CET.
🆓 Freebies for all the subscribers
In our role as engineering leaders, we often need tools and frameworks to help us put theory into practice.
In addition to the weekly articles, I'll start sharing additional material and content to help you in your daily job.
There won't be a fixed schedule for these, nor a fixed format. They'll be shared together with related articles and can be of different nature: Notion templates, Google Docs and Spreadsheets, PDFs, etc.
I believe these additional resources will provide you with extra value in your daily job.
🎙️ Sudo Make Me a CTO Podcast!
This is going to be the big new addition for 2024: a Podcast!
I'm an avid consumer of podcasts myself, and I find podcasts and newsletters complement each other very well.
The format of the podcast will be simple, at least at the beginning.
In every episode, I'll interview a different CTO or VP of Engineering. In the interview, I'll ask them to share with us the most important aspects of their trajectory:
- How did they end up choosing the leadership career?
- How did they learn the ropes of the profession?
- Where did they take inspiration from?
- What are some effective approaches that helped them be successful?
I hope that by doing this, we'll provide you all with opportunities to learn from some of the best people in the industry, and take inspiration from them.
Expect the first episode to be released during Q1!
✨ Premium content
Apart from all the free resources, I'll also be introducing premium content this year.
The reason should be obvious, but I'll state it anyway. As I'm transitioning to a full-time Solopreneur business in 2024, I want to build sources of income that will allow me to gradually reduce the amount of consulting work I'll need to do to pay the bills.
Premium content will be the main avenue to achieve that.
This will include online courses, more advanced frameworks and tools, exclusive content, and in-depth guides.
These will be available for a reasonable fee and will provide even more value to those who wish to dive deeper into the world of tech leadership.
I'm planning to release the first premium content during Q1.
🙏🏼 What do you want to read more about in 2024?
As I'm going to produce even more content in 2024, I'm very interested in your input as a reader of Sudo Make Me a CTO.
What are some topics you'd like to see covered in the newsletter? What are some areas you are struggling with in your daily job? Who are some of the people you'd love to see as a guest for the upcoming podcast?
As we kick off the new year, I'm inviting you to become an even more active member of the Sudo Make Me a CTO community by doing the following:
1. Take 3 minutes to fill this survey and provide input on topics you'd like to see covered in future issues of the newsletter.
2. Share this post with 3 friends, peers, or colleagues of yours that you think would benefit from being part of this community and invite them to subscribe.
I hope 2024 will be a wonderful year for all of you, and one where Sudo Make Me a CTO will help you thrive in your professional career!
See you all next week.
